Fifteen people were arrested and 53 cited last week for violating Gov. David Ige’s stay-at-home order.
Officers in the Kona District made six arrests and issued 21 citations between April 15 and Tuesday, according to data released by the Hawaii Police Department. Meanwhile, in South Kohala, two people were arrested and four people cited. Ka‘u officers cited five people.
In East Hawaii, seven people were arrested and 11 citations were written in the South Hilo District while eight people were cited and no one was arrested in the Puna District. In Hamakua, four people were cited.
In addition, two criminal cases were initiated in the South Kohala Distict, according to police.
Since the start of the order, which went into effect March 26, the Hawaii Police Department’s total enforcement stands at 232 individual offenses, which includes 56 arrests, 168 citations, and nine additional cases.
Violating the stay-at-home order, which remains posted until April 30, carries a fine up to $5,000 or one year incarceration.
