Green waste service for residential users will reopen at select locations starting Saturday.
The service will be available three days a week, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., at three Big Island sites, including two in West Hawaii.
The Keei Transfer Station in South Kona will be open for residential green waste on Sundays, Tuesdays and Fridays. The Waimea Transfer Station in South Kohala will accept residential green waste on Saturdays, Sundays and Wednesdays. The Pahoa Transfer Station in Puna will accept the waste on Saturdays, Sundays and Wednesdays, according to Hawaii County.
Green waste service limits are a maximum of one residential load per day, and 5 cubic yards per load. (Five cubic yards is the equivalent of a full-sized pickup truck with an 8-foot bed filled up to the cab.)
Users must keep a 6 feet or greater social distance from each other and facility employees. If a 6-foot social distance cannot be maintained, all users must wear a cloth face covering.
Anyone with symptoms of the COVID-19 virus will be restricted from using the services at these facilities.
