DOH reports new positive case of COVID-19 on Big Island

The state Department of Health reported one new positive case of COVID-19 on Hawaii Island as of noon Sunday.

Since Feb. 28, some 640 people have tested positive for the novel coronavirus with 573 of those people having since recovered and been released from isolation, according to the Department of Health.

On Hawaii Island, 77 people have tested positive for the novel coronavirus since Feb. 28. Two people remained in isolation as of noon Sunday, according to the department. One person has required hospitalization.

Meanwhile, case totals for Oahu held steady at 415 while Maui and Kauai counties remained at 115 and 21, respectively. Ten of the cases are Hawaii residents diagnosed outside the state of Hawaii.

Statewide, the coronavirus-related death toll stands at 17 — 11 on Oahu and six on Maui. Eighty-two people have been hospitalized.
