On Hawaii Island, 78 people have tested positive for the novel coronavirus since Feb. 28. Two people remained in isolation as of noon Tuesday, according to the department. One person has required hospitalization.

Officials said Tuesday afternoon that investigators are attempting to determine if the new Hawaii County case has any potential links to previous cases.

Meanwhile, case totals for Oahu held steady at 415 while Maui and Kauai counties remained at 117 and 21, respectively. Ten of the cases are Hawaii residents diagnosed outside the state of Hawaii.

Health officials also noted Tuesday afternoon that the outbreak at Maui Memorial Medical Center was considered closed.

Statewide, the coronavirus-related death toll stands at 17 — 11 on Oahu and six on Maui. Eighty-two people — or 13% — have been hospitalized.
