Hawaii County Civil Defense reported Thursday morning two new COVID-19 cases on Hawaii Island.

Since Feb. 28, 81 people have tested positive for the novel coronavirus. Five people remained in isolation as of 8:15 a.m. Thursday, according to the agency.

To date, just one person has required hospitalization on Hawaii Island.

Statewide, 643 people have tested positive for the novel coronavirus, including the two new cases announced by county officials Thursday morning. The state Department of Health releases its official COVID-19 details at noon.

The coronavirus-related death toll stands at 17 — 11 on Oahu and six on Maui.
