Kaleo-O-Nalani Bertelmann

Kaleo-O-Nalani Bertelmann, 44, of Waimea, died April 10, 2020 at Kona Community Hospital. Born March 12, 1967, in Honokaa, he was a construction worker and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He is survived by son, Makalii Bertelmann; daughters, Hooipo Bertelmann and Kaala Bertelmann; mother, Deedee Bertelmann; brothers, Kealii Bertelmann and Kealiiokekai Bertelmann; sisters, Pomai (Chadd Paishon) Bertelmann, Lauae (Brian) Sanchez, and Kekoho Bertelmann, all of Waimea; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Marie Payne

Marie Isabell Louis Payne, 92, of Volcano and formerly of Kailua, Oahu, died May 20, 2020, at her residence. Born in Honolulu, she was a retired secretary for the U.S. Marine Corps Air Station in Kaneohe, Oahu, member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Kailua, Oahu, Kailua Elks Club and a singer with “Sweet Adelines” on Oahu.

She is survived by sons, Tommy (Brenda) Carson of Volcano, John (Carol) Carson of Oahu, Scott (Caroline) Carson of Kona; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Deanna Helga Torres

Deanna Helga Torres, 71, of Keaau, died May 23, 2020. Born Sept. 16, 1948, in Plankstadt, Germany, she worked for Bank Of Hawaii, AT&T, and was an office manager of her husband’s construction business.

She is survived by husband, William Torres Sr., brother, Gregory Judie of New Mexico; daughter, Tanya Johnson of Hawaii; son, William Torres Jr. of Hawaii; three grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

Roxie Doughty

Roxie Doughty, 64, of Kailua-Kona, died May 26, 2020, at her residence. Born Aug. 30, 1955, in Ashland, Wisconsin, she was a homemaker, seamstress, cook and member of Wednesday Night Cribbage Club.

Private service to be held. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the National Alzheimer’s Association.

She is survived by husband, Mark Doughty of Kailua-Kona; brother, Regan (Jane) Trinko; sister, Robin Russel all of Wisconsin; numerous friends.

Albert Duldulao Sr.

Albert Mamuad Duldulao Sr. 80, of Hilo, died March 5, 2020 at Hawaii Care Choices. Born May 28, 1939, in San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, he was a retired heavy equipment operator for the former Hamakua Sugar Co.

He is survived by wife, Carina Duldulao of Hilo; children, Albert Duldulao Jr. and Emma Duldulao of Hilo, Clifford (Ralph) Malani of Oahu, Joy (Kane) Palazzotto of Maui and Hollie (Aaron) Jones of California; two grandchildren; brother, Rudolfo (Catalina) Duldulao of Mountain View.

Robert Fujino

Robert Manabu Fujino, 89, of Kealakekua, died May 23, 2020, at Kona Community Hospital. Born April 8, 1931 in Kealakekua, he was a retired produce manager for Sack N Save Kona and a former baker for Standard Bakery in Kainaliu.

Private service to be held. Family requests no flowers or koden.

He is survived by wife, Eloise Fujino; son, Wendell (Bernadine) Fujino all of Kealakekua; brothers, Hiroshi Fujino of Keauhou, Gilbert (Jean) Fujino of Kealakekua, Howard (Sanora) Fujino of Honolulu; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Leon Penera

Leon Cabacongan Penera, 87, of Pahala, died March 26, 2020 at Hilo Medical Center. Born Oct. 6, 1932, in Honolulu, he was a retired knapsack sprayer for the former Ka‘u Sugar Plantation Co. and a member of the Pahala Holy Rosary Catholic Church.

He is survived by wife, Segundina Penera of Pahala; daughters, Francisca (Mariano) delos Santos of Pahala and Shirley Penera of Honolulu; son, Freddie (Estrella) Penera of Ewa Beach, Oahu; brothers, Anastacio (Emeliana) Erece of Philippines and Himy (Florentina) Penera of Pahala; sisters, Laurdis (Bonifacio) Erece of Pahala, Ramona (Domingo) Tadeo and Lillia (Agapito) Villahermosa of Philippines, Laureana (Manuel) Villahermosa of Chicago, Illinois; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

June Tomiko Ishida, 93, of Hilo, died May 20, 2020 at Hilo Medical Center. Born June 30, 1926, in Fukuoka, Japan, she was a retired cashier for Safeway and member of Tenrikyo Kakaako Church.
