Big Island police confirmed Tuesday human remains were found at the scene of a Saturday afternoon structure fire in Pahala.

The Hawaii Police Department said the remains hadn’t been positively identified as of Tuesday.

The Hawaii Fire Department reported Sunday that an elderly female resident remained unaccounted for following a fire at 96-1150 Kamani Street. A man safely evacuated the two-story structure.
