Clyde Agres Sr.

Clyde Agres Sr, 77, of Hilo died June 8, 2020, at the Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born in Hilo, he was a retired welder at the former Hilo Coast Processing Company and Jas. W. Glover and was an avid fisherman.

Survived by sons, Clyde (Faith) Agres, Jr. of Hilo, Irvin Agres of Hilo, Nivan (Olga) Agres of Hilo; daughters, Nadine Agres of Hilo, Darci Agres of Hilo, Janelle Agres of Hilo; brothers, Anthony Martin of Oahu, John Chu Hing of Hilo, Edward Pascua of Hilo; brother-in-law, George Lutz of Ohio; two sisters-in-law; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews.

Wendell Grace

Wendell Walter Grace, 78, of Hilo, died May 31, 2020 at the Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Honolulu, he was an electrical engineer working overseas, member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army and Hawaii Army National Guard.

Survived by wife, Rosemary Grace of Hilo; children, Primavera Kananiolani (James) Grace Fuller, Wendell (Becky) Walter Grace, Jr., Jason (Wenonah) Kalani Grace, Joyal Kananiolani Grace, Janelle (Charlie) Keliikoa Garcia, Jamie (Maria) Joseph Grace, Thomas McColgan, Cherie (Justin) Gaume; siblings, Nora Okamoto, Carol (William) Hamilton, Dwight (Bernie) Walker, Jr., John (Ellen) Walker; 21 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Yaeko Yoshioka

Yaeko Yoshioka, 97 of Captain Cook, died June 10, 2020 at Hospice of Kona’s Nakamaru Hale. Born in Paauilo, on April 11, 1923, she was a coffee farmer. She was a retired housekeeper at the former Kona Plantation, Kona Surf Hotel, Kona Islander Inn, and a member of Kona Hongwanji Buddhist Temple and the Honaunau Kumiai #2.

Private services. The family requests no koden or flowers please.

She is survived by her sons, Glenn Yoshioka of Renton, WA, Kirk (Melissa) Yoshioka of Hurst, TX, Clayton Yoshioka of Captain Cook; daughters, Sandra Yoshioka of Captain Cook, and Doreen (Gary) Thorne of Maple Valley, WA; two grandchildren; a great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews.

Ka’anela Wong

Ka’anela ‘O Na Lani Pasa Wong, stillborn girl, of Hilo, died April 14, 2020, at Hilo Medical Center.

Survived by, parents, Scotty Wong, Jr. and Noela Pasa; sisters, Destynee, Rhaya, Raeleigha, Dhreme and Peyton; brother, Rhyden; numerous grandparents, great-grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Lily Kong

Lily Namakaoka’ia Ha’anio Kong, 93, of Keauhou, died June 7, 2020, at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Keauhou on Feb. 16, 1927, she was a retired supervisor at HCEOC; former chairperson for the Hawaii Burial Council and a Hawaiian cultural advocate.

A celebration of life to be announced at a later date.

Survived by daughter, Olivia Pasciuta; two granddaughters.

James VanderHoek

James “Kimo” Raymond VanderHoek, 65, of Kailua-Kona, died June 18, 2020, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Dec. 23, 1954, in Orange, CA, he was a maintenance worker.

He is survived by siblings, Gene VanderHoek of Kalaoa, Joel VanderHoek of Kailua-Kona, Dena Rabara of Kalaoa; numerous nieces and nephews.
