State health officials on Wednesday announced nine new cases of COVID-19 in Hawaii.
Seven of the new cases were on Oahu and two were on Maui, according to the COVID-19 Joint Information Center. Eight of the cases were adults and one was a child.
The center said four of the Oahu cases were “associated with a new cluster at an urgent care facility, though none of those infected are involved in patient care.” The two Maui cases are under investigation for association with travel.
Hawaii’s total case count now stands at 926, according the center. Oahu accounts for the majority of cases with 659 followed by Maui County with 123 cases, Hawaii County with 87 and Kauai County with 38
Of the Hawaii residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, 741 of those cases have since recovered and been released from isolation. That includes 85 of the 87 cases on Hawaii Island.
Statewide, 116 patients have required hospitalization, including three on Hawaii Island.
Eighteen people have died from the novel coronavirus, according to the center. Twelve of the deaths were on Oahu and six on Maui.
