State health officials on Thursday announced 20 new cases of COVID-19, including three on Hawaii Island.

The 17 new cases identified Thursday on Oahu were “associated with identified cases or clusters,” according to the COVID-19 Joint Information Center.

Hawaii’s total case count now stands at 946, according the center. Oahu accounts for the majority of cases with 676 followed by Maui County with 123 cases, Hawaii County with 90 and Kauai County with 38.

Of the Hawaii residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, 746 of those cases have since recovered and been released from isolation. That includes 86 of the 90 cases on Hawaii Island.

Statewide, 116 patients have required hospitalization, including three on Hawaii Island.

Eighteen people have died from the novel coronavirus, according to the center. Twelve of the deaths were on Oahu and six on Maui.
