Thelma Martin

Thelma Lavern Martin, 87, of Hilo and formerly of Honokaa died May 25, 2020, at Legacy Hilo Rehabilitation &Nursing Center. Born in Kalopa, she was a retired cashier for the former Sure Save Supermarkets, and member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa and the Hawaii County Elderly Activities Honokaa Senior Center.

Private services held.

She is survived by daughter, Yolanda Keehne of Hilo; sons, Roger (Joyce) Martin of Glenwood, and Tommy Martin of Honokaa; brother, Harold Camara of Sacramento, Calif.; sister, Betty Jose of Honokaa; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Elsa Vida

Elsa Armas Vidal, 49, of Keaau, died June 30, 2020 at Hilo Medical Center. Born Feb. 12, 1971 in Vintar, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, she was a yard worker for Puna Certified Co. and a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Spanish Congregation in Kona.

No services.

She is survived by, husband, Julio Vidal of Ocean View; parents, Jose and Angeles Armas of the Philippines; brothers, Joan (Catalina) Armas of Lanai and Romel (Vivian) Armas of the Philippines; one niece.

Deborah Shelton

Deborah Mae Shelton, 63, of Keaau died June 25, 2020, at home. Born in Honolulu, she was a member of the Church on a Sure Foundation Puna and worked at Head Start and Walmart in Hilo.

Services will be held at a later date in Puna.

She is survived by mother, Dolores Dos Santos of Pearl City, Oahu; husband Ricky Shelton of Keaau; sons, Bronson Shelton of Seattle, and Leroy Shelton of Los Angeles; daughter, Cherese Shelton of Honolulu; and six grandchildren.
