State announces 21 new cases of COVID-19

Twenty-one new cases of COVID-19 were announced Sunday, including one on the Big Island.

Nineteen of the new cases were on Oahu while the Big Island and Maui each reported one new case, according to the COVID-19 Joint Information Center. The state’s COVID-19 tally now stands at 1,220.

To date, Oahu has recorded 923 positive tests, followed by Maui County with 134 cases, Hawaii County with 101 and Kauai County with 43.

Of the Hawaii residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, 890 of those cases have since recovered and been released from isolation. That includes 90 of the 101 cases on Hawaii Island.

Statewide, 125 patients have required hospitalization, including three on Hawaii Island.

Of the 19 deaths reported in Hawaii, 13 were on Oahu and six were on Maui.
