Priscilla Kagawa

Priscilla E. Kagawa, 86, of Hilo, died July 6, 2020 at Hawaii Care Choices. Born May 4, 1934, in Papaikou, she was a homemaker and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Ainaola Ward Hilo.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. July 23 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 10:30 a.m. service. Burial to follow at East Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2 at noon.

She is survived by daughters, Charleen (John) Kaluau of Kona, Karleen Arellano and Marleen (Derek) Cabarloc of Hilo; son, Abraham Jr. (Roxanne) Kagawa of Hilo; brothers, Ameil (Kathy) Akimseu and Earl (Laureen) Akimseu of Hilo, Raymond (Paulette) Akimseu of Honolulu; sisters, Cynthia Moses and Luana (Satoshi) Sumiki of Hilo, Gail (Michael) Figueroa of Pepeekeo; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Dwight Fujimoto

Dwight Hiroaki Fujimoto, 70, of Laupahoehoe, died June 23, 2020 at Hilo Medical Center. Born May 24, 1950, in North Hilo, he retired from Macy’s and Honokaa Sugar Plantation Co.

Private services will be held at a later date.

He is survived by aunt, Fujie Fujimoto of Honokaa and numerous cousins.

Tina Gonsalves

Tina Gonsalves, 58, died July 1, 2020 at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Hospice Facility. She was born April 12, 1962.

Curren Meyers

Curren Jerome Hookala Meyers, 39, of Kailua-Kona died July 9, 2020 in Wahiawa, Oahu. He was born Nov. 11, 1980, in Hilo.

Makee Thomas

Makee M.A. Thomas, 32 of Volcano, died July 11, 2020 at Kona Community Hospital. He was born March 26, 1988, in Hilo.

He is survived by parents, Michael and Diana Thomas of Volcano; sister, Ilima Thomas of Haleiwa, Oahu; maternal grandmother, Alana McKinney of Volcano; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Eunice Campbell

Eunice Arlene Campbell, 72, of Naalehu, died July 3, 2020, at her residence.

Born in Ansley, Nebraska, she was a retired high school English teacher, former president of the Manchester School Board and a member of the United Methodist Church.

She is survived by husband, George William Campbell of Naalehu; sons, James (Melissa) Robert Campbell of Kent, Ohio, Christopher (Kim) George Campbell of Livermore, California; brothers, Ken Nealeigh of Casper, Wyoming, Ron (Diane) Nealeigh of Trenton, Nebraska; sister, Sue (Larry) Osnes of Florida; six grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Marilyn Kamei

Marilyn Chieko Kamei, 83, of Hilo, died July 6, 2020 at her residence. Born April 28, 1937, in Puunene, Maui, she was retired medical secretary for Kuakini Health System and member of the Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin and Senior Net Program.

She is survived by husband, Kazuo Kamei of Hilo; son, Richard (Lily) Kamei of Honolulu; daughter, Sandra Taniguchi of Hilo; sister, Lillian Tominaga of Honolulu; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Shizuko Dela Cruz

Shizuko “Elsie” Juanita Dela Cruz, 93, of Paauilo, died June, 2020, 30 at Hale Hoola Hamakua. Born in Ookala, she was a retired kitchen manager at the former Honokaa Hospital.

Charlene Kamekona

Charlene Ululani Kamekona, 84, of Hilo, died July 8, 2020 at Hilo Medical Center. Born Aug. 11, 1935, in Honolulu, she was retired custodian for the County of Hawaii Department of Parks and Recreation.

She is survived by son, Harold Kamekona of Hilo; daughter, Leanne Kamekona of California; brothers, Raynard Apana and Royden Apana of Oahu; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Chiyoko Nariyoshi

Chiyoko Nariyoshi, 96, of Kurtistown, died June 27, 2020, at home. Born in Honokaa, she was a homemaker and formerly worked at Kamehameha Garments and Mauna Loa Mac Nut.
