Hawaii Island police have charged 65-year-old Isauro Garcia Madrigal, of Orchidland, with second-degree murder following an incident Thursday evening in the driveway of his Puna residence.

Shortly before 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Puna Patrol officers responded to a reported verbal argument at a residence on 37th Avenue in Orchidland, according to the Hawaii Police Department. Upon arrival, Madrigal reported to officers that two men had entered his property and attacked him with a knife. A man’s lifeless body was located on the driveway, just inside the fence. No one else was at the scene.

The victim has been identified as Felix Ahula Padamada Jr., of Keaau, according to police.

Madrigal was arrested at the scene and taken to the Pahoa Police Station and then to Hilo Medical Center for treatment of an injury to his hand that he reportedly received during the confrontation, police said.

On Friday, an autopsy was performed and determined that Padamada died as a result of multiple stab wounds about his neck and upper body. The manner of death was ruled a homicide.

Madrigal is being held in lieu of $2 million bail pending his initial court appearance scheduled for Monday in Hilo District Court.
