DOH reports 28 new cases of COVID-19, including two on Hawaii Island

Twenty-eight new cases of COVID-19 were announced Sunday, including two on Hawaii Island, bringing the state’s total case count to 1,381.

With the new cases, Hawaii County has now seen 113 positive tests, according to the COVID-19 Joint Information Center. To date, 100 of those persons have since recovered and been released from observation.

To date, Oahu has seen 1,065 positive tests, followed by Maui County with 135 cases, Hawaii County with 113 and Kauai County with 43.

Of the Hawaii residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, 1,043 of those cases have since recovered and been released from isolation. That includes 100 of the 113 cases on Hawaii Island.

Statewide, 150 patients have required hospitalization, including four on Hawaii Island.

Of the 24 deaths reported to date among Hawaii residents, 17 were on Oahu, six were on Maui and one was a Kauai resident receiving treatment in Arizona at the time he died.
