Emergency warning sirens to be tested Monday
The monthly test of the all-hazard Statewide Outdoor Warning Siren System, coordinated with the test of the Live Audio Broadcast segment of the Emergency Alert System, is scheduled for 11:45 a.m. Monday.
During this monthly test, all outdoor warning sirens will sound a 1-minute attention alert signal (steady tone). A simultaneous test of the live audio broadcast segment of the Emergency Alert System is conducted with the monthly siren sounding, in cooperation with Hawaii’s broadcast industry.
There will be no exercise or drill accompanying the test, according to the Hawaii Emergency Management Agency.
If you hear this siren tone in circumstances other than a test, follow emergency information and instructions provided by official government channels. This may be in the form of a local radio, television station broadcast, and/or cellular Wireless Emergency Alert.

PTA hosts training for soldiers, Marines during August
Several hundred soldiers and Marines will be training this month at Pohakuloa Training Area.
The training includes rifle marksmanship, helicopter gunnery, artillery and mortar gunnery, and aviation training, according to the U.S. Army Garrison-Pohakuloa.
“As a reminder, all training in August is previously scheduled training by local units and is not RIMPAC associated,” a media release reads.
Residents of Hawaii Island can expect to see or hear military aircraft supporting this training including Army helicopters, and Marine tilt-rotor aircraft (MV-22) commonly known as Osprey.
