Martin Evans

Martin “Kaleo” Kaleolani Evans, 59, of Keaukaha, died June 24, 2020 at home. Born Jan. 26, 1961 in Hilo, he was a kahu/pastor, musician and youth leader.

Friends may call at 11 a.m. Aug. 9 at the family’s residence in Hilo for a drive-through service. Flowers and lei welcomed. Condolences may be sent to 243 Nahalea Ave., Hilo, HI 96720.

He is survived by, wife, Ceceliaann Evans of Keaukaha; sons, Martin (Noel) Evans Jr. and Nathan Evans, all of Keaukaha; daughter, Ruth Evans of Keaukaha; hanai sons, Chauncey Akau and Rory (Hiipoi) Akau, all of Hilo; brothers, James (Sybil) Evans of Keaukaha and George (Donna) Evans of Maryland; sisters, Sheila (Ernest Matsu) Evans and Anna Ater, all of Keaukaha, Blossom (Lamont) Johnston of Boise, Idaho, Mahea (Paul) Edwards of Waikoloa, and Margaret Evans, Malia Evans and Loke (Jose) Bautista, all of Hilo; hanai sister, Claire Bordner of Hilo; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Tajhlia Kuheana-Wilmer

Tajhlia Moanikealaonameliaalohalani Kuheana-Wilmer, 22, of Hilo died July 15, 2020 at home. She was a homemaker.

Services will be held at a later date.

She is survived by daughter, Zaylee-Marie Kuheana-Naylor of Hilo; parents, Misty Kuheana and Morris Paiva Sr. of Hilo and Christopher Wilmer of California; sisters, Timberly Paiva and Tristy Paiva, both of Hilo; brother, Morris Paiva Jr. of Hilo; grandparents, Micheal and Faye Suko Kuheana of Hilo and Patricia Barrett of California; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Loreta Labicani

Loreta Evangelista Labicani, 103, of Pahala, died July 13, 2020 at Legacy Hilo Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Born Sept. 19, 1916, in Paaulio, she was a hand harvester at the Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Co., midwife and member of the Pahala Holy Rosary Catholic Church.

Friends may call at 4:30 p.m. Aug. 14 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel for a 5:30 p.m. service. All-night vigil to follow at the Evangelista family residence in Pahala. A graveside service will be held at 9 a.m. Aug. 15 at Pahala Holy Rosary Catholic Church Cemetery.

She is survived by daughters, Catalina Pasion of Hilo, Trifona Domingo, Estrella Delos Santos and Margarita (Loreto) Romualdo of Kona, Cecilia Urbano of Delano, California, Marilu (Francis) Agustin of Pahala and Pauline (Melanio) Peralta of Santa Clara, California; sons, Augustine (Elena) Labicani of Suisun, California, and Graciano (Arceli) Labicani of Stockton, California; 47 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Ruby Carvalho

Ruby Elizabeth Carvalho, 92, of Hilo, died July 23, 2020 at home. Born in Hilo, she was a homemaker, and a housekeeper at The Crescent Manor, a member of the Portuguese Culture Club, Kamana Senior Center, and a St. Joseph Church/School helper.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. Aug. 10 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo for 9:30 a.m. Mass.

She is survived by daughter, Geldine (Imai) Namahoe of Hilo; brother, Donald Perreira of Hilo; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Daneille Kwami

Danielle Selom Kwami, 27, of Pahoa, died July 21, 2020, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Princeton, New Jersey, she was an actress, performer, world traveler and an organ donor.

Private services held. Donations in her memory may be made to the University of Hawaii at Hilo Performing Arts Center.

She is survived by parents, Godwin Jeff and Clare Kwami; siblings, Rosemond Kwami, Jacob Kwami, Monique Kwami, Corina (Clement Regert) Kwami; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
