Margie Omuro

Margie Tsuyono Omuro, 96, of Keaau died July 22, 2020, at a private care home in Hilo. Born in Wailuku, she was a retired secretary for the ILWU and a member of the Taishoji Soto Mission.

Private services held. Family requests no flowers and no koden (monetary gifts).

She is survived by daughter, Naomi (Ernest) Tamashiro of Kapaa; son, Alan (Ann) Omuro of Hilo; two grandchildren’ four great-grandchildren.

Seiko Kaneshiro

Seiko Kaneshiro, 95, of Hilo, died July 29, 2020, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Feb. 5, 1925, in Kukuihaele, he was a taro farmer and retired proprietor of The Waipio Poi Factory, a member of Hui Uruma, Honokaa Hongwanji Kyodan, instructor of the Seigi Kwan Judo Club and founded the Ono Ono Poi Softball Team.

Serivices will be held at a later date.

He is survived by wife, Sadako Kaneshiro of Hilo; sons, Lloyd (Moana) Kaneshiro of Hilo and Grant (Jade) Kaneshiro of Honolulu; daughters, Adele (Takashi) Enomoto of Kailua-Kona, Roxane Kaneshiro-Sasaki of Honolulu and Iris (Keith) Ito of Honolulu; sister, Takeko Inouye of San Francisco, California; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Glenn Akana

Glenn Kalanipono Akana, 69, of Kailua-Kona, died July 22, 2020 at Kona Community Hospital. Born Feb. 27, 1951, in Honolulu, he was retired a truck driver for Conen’s Freight Transport and member of Kealaokamalamalama Congregational Church.

Serivices will be held at a later date.

He is survived by mother, Gladys Akana of Ewa Beach, Oahu; sister, Meredith Akana of Honolulu; brother, Reuben Akana of Kailua-Kona; three nieces; and numerous cousins.

Barbara Walko

Barbara Ann Walko, 86, of Hilo, died Aug. 5, 2020, at her residence. Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, she was a homemaker.

Services held.

She is survived by daughters, Donna (David) Walko, Eileen (Toni) Walko; sons, Anthony (Michelle) Walko, Justin Walko; seven grandchildren.
