Virtual author talks planned

Agnes Terao-Guiala will discuss from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday her book “Hawaiian Women’s Fashion: Kapa, Cotton, and Silk,” which chronicles Hawaii’s fashions through the ages, from the traditional kapa pa‘u (wrapped skirt) to the missionary-inspired holoku (known as the “Mother Hubbard” dress) to the present-day designs

Local author Sara Ackerman will discuss her newest book, “Red Sky Over Hawaii,” which was inspired by real places and events of World War II from 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesday. This event is in partnership with the 75th Anniversary of the End of World War II Commemoration Committee.

The free Facebook Live events will be held at www.facebook.com/hsplshigov. A Facebook account is not required to join the online author talk.
