James Siu Jr.

James Bo Chong Siu Jr., 73, of Mountain View, died June 13, 2020, in Hoopuloa. Born in Pahala, he was a retired chef at various hotels and restaurants, worked at the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and was a farmer.

Private services held.

He is survived by son, Keola (Miho) Siu of Lihue, Kauai; daughter, Pua Siu of Mountain View; mother, Lucy Siu of Hilo; sisters, Tuck Sun Bareng of California and Vivian Mark and Melva (Mark) Ahu, all of Hilo; brother, Leon (Malia Elliot) Siu of Honolulu; three grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Amihan Aguirre

Amihan “Ami” Leilani Eslava Aguirre, 31, of Hilo, died June 17, 2020.

She is survived by sons, Stephen Deponte Jr. and Sterlen Deponte; mother, Presentacion Aguirre; brother, Gilbert (Christine) Aguirre II; sister, Nuuana (Delson) Maikui; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Miyoko Yamasaki

Miyoko S. “Yama” Yamasaki, 97, of Waimea, died July 30, 2020 at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born in Keaau, she was a forestry worker, and a member of Kamuela Hongwanji.

Services will be held on a later date.

She is survived by sons, Howard (Suk) Yamasaki of Aiea, Oahu, and Herbert Yamasaki of Honolulu; daughters, Diane Kanemoto of Pearl City, Oahu, and Coleen (Gerald) Kasamoto of Hilo; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

John Ige

John Nobuharu Ige, 82, of Pahoa died July 17, 2020, at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center in Hilo. Born in Lanai, he was a retired painter, janitor, and groundskeeper with the University of Hawaii at Hilo and Hawaii Community College.

Services will be held at a later date.

He is survived by wife, Marilyn Ige of Pahoa; sons, Raymond Ige of Honolulu and Reagan (Melissa) Ige of Aiea, Oahu; daughters, Joni (Christopher) Wood of Kaneohe, Oahu, and Shauna Ige (Gavin Ida) of Pahoa; brother, James (Connie) Ige of Shakopee, Minn.; two grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Robert Mele Jr.

Robert “Kalo” Mele Jr., 48 of Hilo, died Aug. 6, 2020 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in 1972, he was a chef at the University of Hawaii at Hilo.

Services will be held at a later date.

He is survived by sister, Margaret (Paul) Gutierrez; father, Doug Mills; and numerous aunties, uncles, and cousins.
