Tell us the truth

What is wrong with our state leadership? Gov. David Ige chastises the Legislature for discovering that the Department of Health is lying to us. Where are all these contact tracers? That’s right, they don’t exist.

Ige said that the state is working with major drug store chains, like CVS, to facilitate testing on the mainland for tourists heading to Hawaii. Where are the contracts indicating the commitment of the state and major drugstore retailers? I assume they don’t exist, because if they did, the governor would be taking credit for this achievement.

Finally, it seems obvious that we need to test everyone who comes to the state. How hard can it be to test everyone who comes to the state? First, you give them the test on arrival, next you send them to their destination to quarantine, and finally you give them their results, hopefully in two or three days. If the results are negative, then you’re released from quarantine; if positive, then you spend two weeks in quarantine. So why don’t we do this? I suspect that the state would love to do this, but they don’t have enough testing capacity, and the governor is unwilling to tell us the truth.

Please tell us the truth, we can take it.

Eat the right stuff and live

Would you like to avoid a trip to the ICU or the cemetery caused by contracting COVID-19? Sure you would. Most people like to keep on living.

Here is the simple way to keep on living in the midst of the pandemic: Eat right.

Yup. That’s it. Your doctor won’t tell you this. Dr. Anthony Fauci won’t tell you. The people who should tell you are not telling you the full truth.

They are not telling you that you have to stop eating crap food that makes you obese. That is not PC. It might be rejected as insulting and demeaning and not scientifically proven.

Obese people are many times more likely to end up in the ICU or dead as people who are the correct body mass index and who eat quality foods. People can simply stop drinking sugary sodas.

We do not need to know the scientific reasons for this truth. All we need to know is that it is true. And it is true.

Americans have an incidence of obesity of 42% of population. The Chinese have an incidence of obesity of 6%. Has it occurred to you that is the reason we, as a nation, are dying by the thousands and why the Chinese are not?

You can glove up, and mask up, and wash up, and isolate, and live far out in the country and still be much more likely to be hospitalized or die of COVID-19 if you are obese. In fact, you are much more likely to die if you are obese, period.

If you sitting in your home eating Krispy Kreme pastries or fast foods with a ton of calories, you are signing your own death warrant. That is the truth even without COVID-19 — it just kills you faster.

So, stop. Think. Eat less high-calorie junk food. Eat the right stuff and live.

You will not get this message from your health department. You will not get it from Fauci or other health authorities.

But since I don’t worry about getting re-elected or offending you, I am telling you the truth.

Eat less. Eat the right foods. Slim down. Live.

Too famous to be stuck

Money buys power? I was skimming through the Aug. 10 People magazine. Wow, Matthew McConaughey exiting the water in Hawaii. Did he quarantine? I highly doubt it. On an island like Gilligan and the Skipper, I am Ginger and too famous to be stuck. LOL.
