Online auction benefits ballet school, dance studio

West Hawaii Dance Theatre & Academy’s online auction to raise funds for the ballet school and dance studio continues through 12 a.m. Monday.

Fundraising for the studio typically occurs at one of their semi-annual performances, but due to the cancelation of spring performance in May, one of the studio’s former student’s got creative. Susie Krall, home from Western Oregon University where she’s studying dance, wanted to support WHDT during the pandemic, and spearheaded the online auction.

The auction began Aug 17 via www.BiddingOwl.com. Bidders can visit the home page and search for West Hawaii Dance Theatre. Bidding opportunities include beautiful jewelry, unique household decor, dance items, outdoor experiences and gift certificates to local restaurants and retailers.

West Hawaii Dance Theatre & Academy is a Kailua-Kona-based nonprofit, family friendly, comprehensive ballet and dance program with professional guest dance instructors and typically offers two full-length ballet performances for the community annually. Throughout the stay-at-home orders, performance cancellation, and mandated safety precautions, WHDT has continued to offer the refuge of dance to our local community and beyond via virtual dance classes.
