Raymond Bumatay
Raymond Kama Bumatay, 80, of Hilo, died on July 31, 2020 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Ola’a, he was a retired Department of Education teacher, a Waikiki Beach Boy, founder and coach of the Paddlers of Laka and former canoe paddling coach at Kamehameha Schools.

He is survived by wife, Janice Bumatay of Hilo; sons, Douglas (Aldina) Bumatay and Alexander (Alice Ching) Bumatay of Hilo; daughter, Lorelei (Shane) Kalaniopio of Hilo; brothers, William Hopeau of Hilo, Wayne Awai of Waikoloa, Charleston Awai and Collins Awai of Portland, OR; sister, Jennie Silva of Hilo; four grandsons and one granddaughter; numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.

Darren Alivado
Darren Reuben Alivado, 52, of Keaau died Aug. 4, 2020, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Honolulu, he was a roofer for Kohala Roofing and an avid diver and hunter.

He is survived by father, Harry (Josephine) Cabiles of Hilo; sister, Christine Cavillis of Hilo; brother, Derek Cavillis of Kona; step-brothers, Grayson Mira and Bryan Mira of Hilo; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

James Kin In
James “Kimo” Keola Kin In, 61, of Waikoloa, died June 28, 2020 in Waimea. Born Jan. 2, 1959, in Honolulu, he worked as a commercial truck driver.

Charles “Chuck” Paxton, 76, of Paradise Park, died Aug. 7, 2020 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in West Virginia, he was retired from American Greetings and was a U.S. Air Force Vietnam veteran.
No services. The family requests that any contributions in his memory should go toward cancer research.
He is survived by son, Martin Paxton of Knoxville, Tenn.; sister Peggy Golden of Paradise Park; and nieces and nephews. Any donations should go to cancer research.

Robert “Bob” Douglas Brown, 77, of Captain Cook, died Aug. 5, 2020, at his residence. Born Feb. 19, 1943, in Dunsmuir, California, he was a retired vice president and software developer for Bancware Inc.

Clarence Ako Sr., 78, of Kapaau, died Aug. 10, 2020, at his residence. Born in Kealakekua, he was a retired maintenance worker in the engineering department at the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, cane truck driver for the former Kohala Sugar CO. and formerly employed by Volcanite in Kona.

Victor Samuel Nakatsu, 70, of Keaau, died Aug. 1, 2020, at home. He was born in Bellevue, Washington and was a salesman with Orchid Isle Auto Center.

Joseph Thomas Lally Jr., 85, of Papaikou, died July 26, 2020 at home. Born April 27, 1935, in Ossining, New York, he was a retired electrician, U.S. Air Force veteran, and member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Papaikou.

Rachael Kimiko Maebo, 82, of Hilo, died Aug. 10, 2020 at home. Born in Kona, she was the co-owner and vice president of Maebo Noodle Factory Inc. and was a member of the Waiakea congregation of Jehovah’s Witness in Hilo.
