Margaret Kaoo

Margaret Kahalaopuna Pule Kaoo, 85, of Hawi, died Aug. 17, 2020 at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born Nov. 19, 1934, in North Kohala, she was a retired pantry worker at the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel and a member of the Kohala Kupuna Halau and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Private services.

She is survived by son, Joseph Kaoo of Hawi; daughters, Thanya Kaoo, Mayvin Kaoo, April Isabel of Hawi and Heidie (Benjamin) Cariaga of Napoopoo; sisters, Sarah Pule of Niulii, and Lena Pule-Kapeliela of Hawi; nine grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Marcelino Querubin

Marcelino Abendanio “Mike” Querubin, 99, of Pepeekeo, died Aug. 13, 2020, at Yukio Okutsu Veteran’s State Home. Born April 26, 1921, in Puro, Caoayan, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, he a senior cane truck driver who retired as a truck serviceman for the Hilo Coast Processing Co., a World War II veteran and a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Pepeekeo Filipino Community and the Pepeekeo Senior Citizen.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. Aug. 28 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel for 10:30 a.m. service. Burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park (Lehua Section) at noon.

He is survived by sons, Edelson (Sharon) Querubin of Pepeekeo and Jose (Florita) Querubin of Kauai; daughter, Estellita (Ed) Fox of Morgan Hill, California; 11 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Jo Ann Imada

Jo Ann “JoJo” Akemi Imada, 68, of Kealakekua, died Aug. 17, 2020, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Sept. 19, 1951 in Laupahoehoe, she was a retired physical therapy aide for Kona Community Hospital and a former licensed practical nurse.

She is survived by daughters, Desiree Dochin of Kealakekua, Tenille (Logan Maumau) Kiaha-Maumau of Utah, Lezlie Kiaha, Mandy Kiaha both of Honolulu; brother, Bert (Carol) Imada; seven grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Gary Goldberg

Dr. Gary Hilton Goldberg, 59, of Waimea, died July 30, 2020 at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born in Bronx, New York, he was an emergency physician and the chief medical officer for North Hawaii Community Hospital.

Services will be held at a later date.

He is survived by mother, Eleanor Goldberg of Miami; step-mother, Karen Goldberg of New York; son, River Goldberg of Waimea; daughters Sasha Goldberg of Waimea, and Sammi Goldberg of Portland, Ore.; brother, Sidney Goldberg of Miami; half-brothers, Wesley Goldberg of Hilton Head, SC, Mason Goldberg of Chester, NJ, and Jared Goldberg of Cherry Hill, NJ; and sister, Rhonda Goldberg of Ewing, NJ.

Anita Powers

Anita Bernadette Tabac Powers, 74, of Honokaa, died Aug. 4, 2020, at The Queen’s Medical Center on Oahu. Born in Paahau, she was a retired housekeeper for Nomura Hawaii Village and a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. Aug. 29 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa for a 10 a.m. Mass. Casual attire.

She is survived by daughters, Richelle Carvalho of Utah, and Renee (Michael) Sanchez of Waikoloa; hanai daughter, Donnamae (Mako) Mangauil of Paauilo; brother, Amador Tabac of Paauhau; sisters, Rosita Ebreo of Paauilo, Betty Tabac of Waimea, and Marina (Nelson) Silva of Kauai; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Steven Lindinha

Steven Harry Lindinha, 86, of Hilo, died Aug. 14, 2020, at his residence. Born in Hilo, he was a retired equipment operator for the former Hilo Coast Processing Co.

Friends may call at 10 a.m. Aug. 26 at Homelani Memorial Park for a graveside service.

He is survived by wife, Nettie Lindinha of Hilo; daughters, Stephanie (Bernard) Gomes and Phyllis Lindinha, all of Hilo; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

Mary Arquero

Mary Ann Arquero, 90, of Kailua-Kona, died Aug. 20, 2020, at her residence. Born Feb. 2, 1930 in Chicago, she was a homemaker, former photo processor, grocery store cashier and quality control inspector.

She is survived by daughter, Suzanne (Bill) King of Kailua-Kona; brother, James (Sally) Valete; granddaughter, Jennifer (Henry) Gordon all of Illinois; and a great-granddaughter.
