Kuikahi Mediation Center announces upcoming talk
The nonprofit Kuikahi Mediation Center hosts a free talk featuring Christina Harper from noon to 1 p.m. Sept. 17 as part of its “Finding Solutions, Growing Peace” Brown Bag Lunch Series.
Harper will discuss “When Where You Play Becomes Where You Work: Creating a Communication System at Home.” The talk will teach better communication habits to create essential peace at home and help protect professional and personal relationships.
Harper is owner of TRY Communication, which provides coaching services in the areas of relationships and communication. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Hawaii at Hilo.

Virtual Torch Run benefits Special Olympics
The First Hawaiian Bank Troy Barboza Law Enforcement Torch Run benefitting Special Olympics Hawaii is going virtual this year due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
For the past 35 years, thousands of off-duty, volunteer law enforcement from federal, state and county agencies have come together to raise awareness for Special Olympics Hawaii by participating in the event. This year, the mission of the Torch Run continues online with their first-ever Virtual Torch Run.
By taking the event online, supporters can keep the “Flame of Hope” burning bright for athletes by making a donation to the organization. For every donation of $20 or more, supporters will receive a 35th anniversary Commemorative Torch Run shirt. A long-sleeve shirt requires a minimum donation of $25.
