State health officials reported Thursday eight new cases of COVID-19 on Hawaii Island, bringing the island’s total case count to 541.
The eight Hawaii Island cases were among 169 new cases reported by the state Department of Health. 158 cases were on Oahu and three on Maui, bringing the statewide tally to 10,292 since Feb. 28. Maui and Kauai counties saw their case counts at 363 and 58, as did the number of residents who have tested positive while out of the state at 26.
Of the 10,292 known cases identified in Hawaii to date, some 7,116 of those cases are still considered active. That includes 289 of the known cases on Hawaii Island.
Statewide, 610 COVID-19 patients have required hospitalization, including 23 on Hawaii Island, according to the center’s noon update.
The center also reported three new coronavirus-related deaths, all on Oahu.
Of the 94 deaths reported among Hawaii residents, 81 were on Oahu, nine were on Maui, three were on Hawaii Island, and one was a Kauai resident receiving treatment in Arizona at the time he died.
The state said Thursday it has yet to include the last seven Hawaii Island deaths reported by Yukio Okutsu Veterans State Home’s Avalon Healthcare, as it is awaiting medical records from the facility.
