Lefty Kawazoe

Lefty Hiroshi Kawazoe, 95, of Hilo and a resident at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home, died Aug. 31, 2020 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Pahoa, he was a retired manager from the former Am Fac Lihue Plantation and Puna Sugar Co., U.S. Army World War II veteran and member of Puna Hongwanji Mission, Taishoji Soto Mission, Kyu Pahoa Kumiai, Pahoa Nikkei Jin Kai and Pahoa, Keaau Senior Retirees and Club 36 golf clubs.

Private services were held. Family requests no monetary gifts or flowers.

He is survived by wife, Kay Kawazoe of Hilo; sons, Brian (Ann Vasconcellos) Kawazoe of Hilo, Neal (Ruth) Kawazoe of Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., Miles (Naomi) Kawazoe of Hilo; sister, Satsuyo Taira of Hilo; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Robert Woolsey

Robert Tell Woolsey Jr., 92, of Kealakekua, died Aug. 24, 2020, at Hospice of Kona’s Nakamaru Hale. Born May 2, 1926, in Honolulu, he was a carpenter, member of Carpenter’s Union Local #745, a U.S. Navy World War II veteran, and the University of Hawaii at Manoa John A. Burns School of Medicine’s Willed Body Program.

No services will be held.

He is survived by sister, Jacqueline Chappuis of Stockton, California; three nieces; caregiver, Richard Iwamuro of Kealakekua.
