State health officials reported 160 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, bringing the statewide total case count to 11,105.
Oahu reported 137 new cases, bringing the state’s most populous island’s case count to 10,015, while Hawaii Island reported 20 new cases, increasing the island’s total case count to 623 since Feb. 28, according to the Hawaii COVID-19 Joint Information Center. Maui County’s case count increased by three to 381.
Meanwhile, the number of residents who have tested positive while out of the state held steady at 28 as did Kauai County’s total case count at 58.
Of the known cases in Hawaii to date, some 6,857 of those cases are still considered active. That includes 202 of the known cases on Hawaii Island.
Statewide, 667 COVID-19 patients have required hospitalization, including 31 on Hawaii Island, according to the center’s noon update.
The center also reported four new coronavirus-related deaths among Oahu residents. No additional information was available.
Of the 107 deaths reported among Hawaii residents, 94 were on Oahu, nine were on Maui, three were on Hawaii Island, and one was a Kauai resident receiving treatment in Arizona at the time he died.
On Thursday, Hawaii County Civil Defense reported a 16th coronavirus-related death at the Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home.
The state has yet to officially report the last 14 coronavirus-related deaths on Hawaii Island, including one death Sept. 8 at Hilo Medical Center and 13 residents of the Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Earlier this month, the state said it was awaiting medical records to confirm the deaths.
