No injuries were reported following a Sunday morning structure in Keaau.

Responding to the 6:02 a.m. alarm, firefighters arrived at 15-1844 28th Ave. in Keaau to find a large single-story structure with a portion of the front burning, according to the Hawaii Fire Department. The structure appeared to be under renovation with items discarded about the house.

Firefighters were able to get the fire under control within six minutes of their arrival and declared the blaze out at 6:20 a.m

Further investigation found “multiple areas that fire had been set, but did not progress and self-extinguished prior to HFD arrival,” the fire department said in a media release.

The cause of the fire was not listed. The department estimated damage to the home at $52,000.
