Michael Carlin
Michael Joseph Carlin, 38, of Captain Cook, died Sept. 20, 2020, at Kona Community Hospital. Born June 18, 1982, in Seoul, Korea, he was an executive sous chef at the Club at Hokulia.
Services will be held at a later date.
He is survived by companion, Makela Peterson of Captain Cook; parents, Grant and Katheryn Carlin of Corvallis, OR; and brother, Matthew Carlin of Indianapolis.

Michiko Nakamoto
Michiko K. Nakamoto, 94, of Hilo, died Sept. 10, 2020, at home. Born in Hilo, she was a retired office manager for the former Taka’s Appliance and former Fred L. Waldron and a member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin.
Private services held. Family requests no monetary gifts or flowers.
She is survived by sons, Calvin Nakamoto and Milton Kiyosaki of Hilo; sisters, Harumi Suzuki and Yuriko (Joe) Furukawa, all of Honolulu, Itsuko Sumiyoshi of Washington state, and Akiko (Kenneth) Nishihira of California; numerous nieces and nephews.

Gary Inouye
Gary Itsuo Inouye, 62, of Clearfield, Utah, and formerly of Hilo, died Sept. 14, 2020, in Clearfield, Utah. Born March 8, 1958, in Captain Cook, he was a mechanic tech for Sunbelt Rentals.

He is survived by wife, Frances Inouye of Clearfield, Utah; daughters, Chante (Will Arbus) Hain of Utah, Marsha (Nicholas) Jarosch of Washington state and Trista (Kalani) Calles of Hilo; 10 grandchildren; and siblings in Minnesota, Kona and Honolulu.

Lawrence Elton Akana, 70, died on Sept. 18, 2020, in Hilo. He was born in Honolulu.
