Lillian Todoroki

Lillian Masako Todoroki, 90, of Hilo, died Sept. 20, 2020 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Hilo, she was a retired office manager from the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power and member of Papaikou Hongwanji Mission.

Private services were held. Family requests no monetary gifts or flowers.

She is survived by brother, Roy (Rusty) Todoroki of Hilo; sisters, Etsuko (Mamoru) Hanamoto of Hilo, Ruriko Ogasawara and Kikuko Sunada of California; nieces and nephews.

Alan Meyers Sr.

Alan George Meyers Sr., 80, of Hilo, died Sept. 23, 2020, at his residence. Born in Pepeekeo, he was a retired diesel mechanic for B&K Kuwahara, LLC.

Services will be held at a later date.

He is survived by wife, Audrey Meyers of Hilo; sons, Alan Meyers Jr. of Hakalau, Curtis (Lisa) Meyers of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Justin (Porsha) Meyers of Hilo; daughters, Kimberly Meyers and Kristel (Jesse) Brogdon, all of Hilo, and Michele (Jonah) Conol of Keaau; 24 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren.

Ricardo Rendon

Ricardo Rendon, 71, of Hilo, died Sept. 19, 2020, at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home in Hilo. Born Oct. 19, 1948, in Los Angeles, he was a Vietnam War veteran, a minister ordained by the General Council of the Assemblies of God who served Teen Challenge, and a chemical dependency and domestic violence counselor with the California Department of Corrections.

He is survived by sister, Patricia; and brothers Michael (Karie) and Robert (Sylvia).

Rita Cowell

Rita Paris Cowell, 85, of Captain Cook, died July 14, 2020, at her residence. Born Aug. 26, 1934, in Honolulu, she was a coffee entrepreneur, Realtor, swimmer and scuba diver, artist and a member of the Daughters of Hawaii and Christ Episcopal Church.

Private services will be held at a later date.

She is survived by husband, Skip Cowell of Captain Cook; daughter, Cindy Cowell of Sacramento; sons, Fred (Heide) Cowell of Kaleho, Kauai, and Robert (Amy) Cowell of Captain Cook; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Richard Julius

Richard Julius, 74, of Orchidland, Keaau, died Aug. 24, 2020, at his home. Born Oct. 25, 1945, in Corpus Christi, Texas, he was retiree of the State of Hawaii Department of Education and a U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Navy veteran.

Services will be held at a later date.

He is survived by wife, Kuuipo Julius, of Orchidland, Keaau; sons, Jon (Annette) Julius of Kapolei, Oahu and Damien Marcus (Tanya) Julius of Nanakuli, Oahu; daughter, Sandy Kay (Elden) Ko of Nanakuli, Oahu; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandsons; several aunts and uncles; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Fredie Domingo

Fredie Sulquiano Domingo, 42, of Kapaau, died Sept. 14, 2020, at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born Dec. 4, 1977, in Marcos, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, he was an assistant manager for a printing company in Dubai, an insurance agent for Fil-Am Life Insurance Co., a call center operator and a member of St. Padua Catholic Church in the Philippines.

Friends may call at 10 a.m. Oct. 3 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hawi for Mass.

He is survived by parents, Modesto and Felicidad Domingo, of Kapaau; sisters, Frecia (Eric) Aludino and Jenny (Runald) Domingo, of Kapaau; brother, Meddie (Sheila) Domingo of Kapaau; hanai sisters, Clarita Tagaca of Hawi and Gloria (Artemio) Abian of Kapaau; hanai brother, Chris (Helen) Sulquiano of Kapaau; maternal grandfather, Mariano Sulquiano of Hawi; maternal grandmother, Concepcion Sulquiano of Philippines; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Editor’s note: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many services were postponed the past couple of months though obituaries were published. Some services dates are now being announced.

Public visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. Oct. 3, 2020 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for Satoshi Ota, 83, of Hilo, who died April 7, 2020 at home. Service is private. Family requests casual attire, no monetary gifts or flowers. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary.
