State health officials reported Thursday 108 new COVID-19 cases, including six on Hawaii Island and 102 on Oahu.
With the new cases, the statewide COVID-19 tally reached 12,515 while Hawaii Island’s total number of cases since Feb. 28 hit 736, according to the Hawaii COVID-19 Joint Information Center.
As of noon Thursday, 2,175 of those known cases were considered active, including 124 cases on Hawaii Island. An active case is defined as an individual who has tested positive for the coronavirus and is being monitored by the Department of Health.
Statewide, 862 COVID-19 patients have required hospitalization, including 42 on Hawaii Island, according to the center’s noon update.
The center reported three new deaths Wednesday among Oahu residents. Two were men, one in his 70s and the other in his 60s, and the third was a woman in her 80s. All had underlying health conditions and had been hospitalized.
Of the 139 coronavirus-related deaths confirmed and reported to date among Hawaii residents to date, 114 were on Oahu, nine were on Maui, 15 were on Hawaii Island, and one was a Kauai resident receiving treatment in Arizona at the time he died.
Avalon Health Care, operator of Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home, reported one new death Wednesday afternoon. To date, 29 Hawaii Island residents, including 27 residents of the Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home, have died from the novel coronavirus. The state has yet to confirm the last 24 deaths.
