Stanley Yasuda

Stanley Yasuo Yasuda, 85, of Holualoa, died Sept. 25, 2020, at his residence. Born Oct. 20, 1934, in Honolulu, he was a retired carpenter and commercial fisherman, member of the Kona Jaycee’s Club, an instructor for the Hawaii Hunter Education Program and a U.S. Marine Corps Korean War veteran.

Private services will be held at a later date. The family requests no koden (monetary gifts) or flowers.

He is survived by wife, Ella Yasuda of Holualoa; sons, Wade Yasuda of Kailua-Kona, and Ivan (Lina) Yasuda of Riverside, CA; sister, Carole Haitsuka and brother, Ronald Yasuda, both of Kaneohe, Oahu; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Eric Hori

Eric Moani Hori, 55, of Kailua-Kona, died July 26, 2020 at Kona Community Hospital. Born June 4, 1965, in Honolulu, he was a heavy equipment operator and a cook for Meals on Wheels.

Services will be held at a later date.

He is survived by wife, Tammy Awai-Hori of Hilo; daughter, Maluhia Awai of Kailua-Kona; son, Sam Awai of Kaneohe, Oahu; sisters, Kehau Hori of Washington, Gloria Santiago of Hilo, Rose (Gabriel) Edrado, Dayna Gaspar and Brenda Makaila, all of Oahu; brothers, Ron Hori of Kailua-Kona, Michael Gaspar and Kimokeo (Ramona) Gaspar, Gordon Gaspar, Nelson (Janice Kawai) Gaspar, Michael (Sara) Gaspar, all of Oahu, Darrel Rodrigues of Hilo and John (Debralynn) Villarimo of Maui; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ralph Cordoban

Ralph Rogelio Cordoban, 72, of Honokaa, died June 20, 2020, at Hale Hoola Hamakua in Honokaa. Born in Honolulu, he was a retired truck driver.

He is survived by son, Ryan (Christina) Cordoban of Honokaa; daughter, Royalan Cordoban of Colorado Springs, CO; companion, Linda Anahu of Honolulu; sisters, Loretta (Doug) Whitaker of Charleston, S.C., and Alona (Alan) Kondo of Kohala; and seven grandchildren.

Barbara Reveira

Barbara Jean Reveira, 75, of Pahoa, died Sept. 26, 2020, at her residence. Born Oct. 12, 1944 in Hilo, she was a retired housekeeper of the Uncle Billy’s Hilo Bay Hotel and a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo.

Services will be held at a later date.

She is survived by sons, Peter (Charmaine) Reveira of Hilo and Ralph Reveria Jr. of Pahoa; daughter, Darlene Reveira of Pahoa; five grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Kurt Kikuchi

Kurt Hisao Kikuchi, 63, of Pepeekeo, died Oct. 6, 2020, at his residence. Born in Honohina, he was an agricultural worker, employee at S. Tokunaga Store and member of Taishoji Soto Mission.

He is survived by brothers, Wesley (Eleanor) Kikuchi of Pacifica, CA., Bert (Yoriko) Kikuchi of Torrance, CA., Danny (Laurie) Kikuchi of Pepeekeo; sisters, Carol Kikuchi of Torrance, CA., Elaine (Katsumi) Ozai of Glendale, CA.; nieces and nephews.

Randolph Ishimaru

Randolph “Randy” Robert Ishimaru, 71, of Hilo, died Sept. 30, 2020, at his residence. Born in Hilo, he was a retired highway construction inspector for the State Highways Division.

He is survived by wife, Coreen Ishimaru of Hilo; daughters, Kara (Ivan) Iopa and Tania Takashiba of Hilo; sisters, Carole Anne Ishimaru and Roberta (Dennis) Miyashiro of Hilo; four grandchildren.

Wallace Hirai

Wallace Azusa Hirai, 91, of Hilo, died Sept. 12, 2020, at the Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home in Hilo. Born in Makawao, Maui, he was the former head of C. Brewer &Company’s Engineering Department in Hilo, founder and former president of W.A. Hirai &Associates in Honolulu and Hilo, an avid fisherman and U.S. Army Korean War veteran.

Internment at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific will take place at a later date. Family requests no flowers or koden (monetary gifts).

He is survived by wife, Mae Hirai; sons, Allen (Monica) Hirai and Michael (Deborah) Hirai; brother, Jerry Hirai; three grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Violet Baquiring

Violet Emelia Baquiring, 93, of Paauilo, died Sept. 30, 2020, at her residence. Born June 21, 1927, in Kalaoa Mauka, she worked for a vegetable farming company as foreman and she also was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa.

Services will be held at a later date.

She is survived by sons, Greg (Marian) Baquiring and Robert (Traci) Asuncion of Oahu, Edmund (Darla) Baquiring and Leopoldo Baquiring of Paauilo and Terry (Jaylin) Baquiring of Kawaihae; daughters, Marlene (Rudy) Palacol of Ookala, Yolanda (Darryl K.) Ishii of Hilo and June Batalona of Paauilo; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Isabella Medeiros

Isabella Mahi Medeiros, 85, of Kona, died Sept. 23, 2020, at her residence. Born in Kalaoa, she retired as a waitress at Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, and home delivered the Honolulu Star Bulletin and Advertiser newspapers.

He is survived by sons, Albert (Janice) Medeiros Jr. of Honolulu and Patrick (Karla) Medeiros of Kohala; daughters, Patricia (Raymond) Kaluau, Susan (Richard) Nauka, and Debra (Sheldon) Aiona, Joelyn (Steve) Coito, all of Kohala, Joanne (Wayne) Olson of Alaska, and Sandra Mosses and Anuhea (Michael) Spies, all of Hilo; hanai children, Kamai Medeiros of Chicago, and Cherina (Joseph) Pule of Alaska; sister, Elizabeth Mahi Fuduka of Honolulu; 28 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Rowena Adviento

Rowena “Wena” Nawaihine Adviento, 79, of Hilo, died on Sept. 21, 2020, at her residence. Born June 12, 1941, in Hilo, she was a security guard for Wackenhut and a housekeeper for the former Hilo Lagoon Hotel.

She is survived by husband, Gabriel Adviento Sr.; sons, Gabriel (Napua) Adviento Jr., James Kelekolio and Anthony Adviento; daughters, Gail (Ronald) Kualii, Myrna Aiona, Mary (Lorenzo) Ramos and Gina (Keane) Lee; sisters, Esther Nichols and Lani Kaikieha; 28 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one great-great-great-grandchild.

Mae Hirai

Mae Michiyo Hirai, 91, of Hilo, died Sept. 18, 2020, at the Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home in Hilo. Born in Hilo, she was an early childhood education teacher with the State of Hawaii and retired from Keaukaha Elementary School.

Internment at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific will take place at a later date. Family requests no flowers or koden (memorial gifts).

She is survived by sons, Allen (Monica) Hirai, Michael (Deborah) Hirai; sister, Doreen Okuda; brothers, Richard (Reiko) Iga, Ronald Iga, Harrison (Rose) Iga, Nelson Iga; three grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Joslyn Silva

Joslyn “Podi” Kalima Nani Silva, 37, of Hilo, died Sept. 20, 2020, at her residence. Born Jan. 31, 1983, in Hilo, she was a former cashier for Walmart in Kunia.

Friends may call at 8:30 a.m. at Dodo Mortuary chapel for an 11:30 a.m. service. Cremation to follow.

She is survived by father, Harold Silva Sr. of Hilo; fiance, Cyril Kamanu of Hilo; brother, Harold Silva Jr. of Hilo; sisters, Cheryl (Miguel) Puga of California, Francesca Willett of Oahu, Sheylyn (Cody Kubo) Botelho, Loretta (Ronald) Lopes, Rose Nactor and Laylene (Autumn) Willett, all of Hilo; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
