Residents can expect to see or hear military aircraft supporting the ongoing training through Friday at which point those larger units will head back to Oahu. The remainder of the month will involve smaller units and special skills training.

Convoys are currently scheduled from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. today and Nov. 8 from PTA to Kawaihae.

All service members training at PTA are prohibited from leaving the base, unless authorized.

Series to help musicians navigate revenue streams

Creative Lab Hawaii presents four one-hour webinar modules that explore aspects of the music business that can unleash revenue opportunities for local talent, and provide a deeper understanding of royalties, production libraries, and licensing music for use in film and television.

The four-part series is available free of charge to Hawaii’s music community and the public. Webinars are slated at 2 p.m. on Nov. 9 and 12 and Dec. 7 and 10. Participants must register for each event separately.

The Nov. 9 webinar, “demystifying online royalties,” will explain the various royalty streams, and what needs to be done to make sure you musicians collect what they’ve earned. On Nov. 12, “how to get your music into film and TV” will cover how film and TV licensing can replace performance income and provide a source of revenue for those who learn who the decision makers are and how to effectively pitch their music.

The Dec. 7 webinar, “music for advertising” will explain licensing music for advertising and branding while the Dec. 10 webinar, “music production libraries” will look cover music production libraries, and how can they provide another source of income for music.

The virtual programs are a pathway to the CLH Music Immersive program, which has opened up new markets for Hawaii singer-songwriters and collectively generated over $500,000 in music licensing revenues for these gig workers since the program’s inception.

The Creative Lab Hawaii Program was founded in 2012 by the state Department of Business, Economic, Development and Tourism’s Creative Industries Division to accelerate the growth of Hawaii’s creative entrepreneurs through immersive, hands-on training in broadband/new media, producing, screenwriting, interactive media, music and design/fashion.
