Harold Jones

Harold Roger Jones, 73, of Volcano, died Oct. 27, 2020, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Oakland, California, he was the prresident and CEO for Global Hope Network International, former owner and principal broker of ERA Jones Reality, former member of the state House of Representatives, founded the Geneva Institute for Leadership and Public Policy and was a U.S. Navy Vietnam War veteran.

Private serviecs will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to https://www.globalhopenetwork.org/HalJones-MemorialFund.

He is survived by wife, Lana Jones of Volcano; children, Adam (Alyson) Jones and Kehaulani (Todd) Uyeda, all of Orlando, Florida, Aaron (Maris) Jones of Kailua, Oahu, and Noelani (Benjamin) Sturzenegger of Switzerland; brother, Lloyd (Janet) Jones of Kailua, Oahu; 14 grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Alroy Begas

Alroy William Begas, 41, died Aug. 28, 2020. Born in Hilo, he worked at Leo’s Rubbish and Suisan.

Services will be held at a later date.

He is survived by wife, Tita Kunewa; sons, Kanalu Kunewa and Austyn Kunewa; father, Leroy Santos of Hilo; mother, Tammy Begas of Mississippi; two sisters, Regina (Robert) Leivan and Hernel Tisalona; two brothers, Paul Tisalona and Brandion Tisalona, both of Honolulu; nephews, nieces, family, and friends.

Joseph Kaleikini Jr.

Joseph Keliihelekuau Kaleikini Jr., 89, of Kurtistown, died Nov, 4, 2020, at his residence. Born in Honolulu, he was retired from both the Army and Air Force and held various engineering positions at Tachikawa, Hickam, and Bellows Air Force bases and last worked at the Pohakuloa Training Area, was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars receiving two Purple Heart Medals, previous commander of the Military Order of the Purple Heart Big Island Chapter 731, and an officer/member of the Korean War Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Combat Infantrymen’s Associations.

Private services will be held. The family requests condolences and memories may be emailed to mjkalei@aol.com and no monetary gifts or flowers.

He is survived by wife, Miyoko Kaleikini; daughters, Barbie (Walter) Tsuha, Amy (Curtis) Kaleikini; sister, Pauline Toribia; six grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.

Edwin Macomber Jr.

Edwin Dean Macomber Jr., 58, of Kurtistown, died Nov. 14, 2020, at his residence. Born in Hilo, he was a self-employed home construction worker.

He is survived by mother, Shirley Acol of Kurtistown; father, Edwin (Trisha) Macomber Sr. ; sister, Pua (Dean) Kaahanui; hanai brother; Gerald Powell Jr.; brothers, Steve (Luana) Macomber, Pat Acol and Jeff (Jess) Acol; numerous nieces and nephews

Shirley Medeiros

Shirley A. Medeiros, 80, of Hilo, died Nov. 5, 2020, at her residence. Born in Hilo, she was as an office clerk at the former Hilo Lanes Bowling Alley, a cashier at the former Seventh Gate Christian Bookstore, a cashier at the former Da Store in Hilo, and a member of the Big Island Portuguese Culture Club.

She is survived by daughter, Debra (David) Cabarloc of Kurtistown; sons, Randall (Kehau) Medeiros of Hilo and Paul (Cindy) Medeiros of Mountain View; sister, Carol Furtado of Hilo; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Liudmila Shirshova

Liudmila Shirshova, 60, of Waikoloa, died Nov. 14, 2020, in Waikoloa. Born Nov. 10, 1960, in Russia, she worked as a clerk at Waikoloa Texaco.

She is survived by husband, Rodney Johnson; daughter Olga Shirshova of Odessa, Ukraine; and two grandchildren.

James Bill

James Donald Bill, 77, of Kailua-Kona, died Oct. 28, 2020, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Oct. 5, 1943, in Oklahoma, he was a U.S. Army veteran.

He is survived by a sister; children, Lancelot Bill and Turandot Kaplan; and a grandchild.
