Two-time Grammy Award-winning Hawaiian musician Kalani Pe‘a returns to the Kahilu Theatre, streaming live via Kahilu.TV at 4 p.m. Jan. 9, 2021.

Pe‘a is a singer of power, sensitivity, and charisma, and is one of the most promising talents in a new generation of Hawaiian musicians. He has won two Grammy Awards for Best Regional Roots Album, one for each of his two CDs releases, and he is the only Hawaiian artist to win in this category.

His first CD also won him a 2017 Na Hoku Hanohano Award, making Hawaiian music history as the only album to win both a Grammy and Na Hoku. In 2019, Pe‘a hit a personal first — with his debut appearance at the prestigious Merrie Monarch hula competition, singing two of his original songs for Hula Halau O Kamuela, which went on to take home the top honor at the competition.

Born and raised in Pana‘ewa, Pe‘a began singing at age 4 to address a childhood stutter. His natural talent was subsequently recognized in singing competitions, and it has brought him to the forefront of Hawaiian music today.

As a singer/songwriter, Hawaiian language practitioner, visual artist, and educator Pe‘a has been praised for Hawaiian language fluency, songwriting skills, and commitment to his Hawaiian roots. His musical style ranges from traditional chant to contemporary Hawaiian classics, from original compositions and pop songs to R&B. All the while Kalani amazes audiences with his charming and dynamic stage presence.

Individual tickets for the Jan. 9, 2021, show, which are good for an entire household, are $19.99 and available at Kahilu.TV. Monthly and annual subscriptions are also available.
