Hawaii Island reported seven new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, bringing the island’s total case tally to 2,139.
The new Hawaii Island cases were among 100 new cases reported across the state by the Department of Health. Oahu reported 65 new cases while Maui County reported 22 and Kauai none. Six residents were diagnosed while outside the state.
Hawaii County on Thursday had a 0.8% test positivity rate, below the statewide rate of 2.5%.
Statewide, to date, there have been 25,541 people who have tested positive for COVID-19.
Statewide, 80 people were hospitalized Thursday, including two on Hawaii Island. To date, 2,057 people have required hospitalization, including 112 on Hawaii Island.
Two new coronavirus-related deaths were reported Thursday by the state; both on Oahu. Of the 406 coronavirus-related deaths confirmed and reported by the state to date, 324 were on Oahu, 25 were on Maui, 53 were on Hawaii Island and one on Kauai. Three deaths were among residents outside the state.
Hawaii Island’s COVID-19 fatality rate remained at 2.5% on Thursday, above the statewide rate of 1.6%.
