A woman was injured on the Maunakea summit Friday evening when she crashed into rocks while snowboarding, according to the Hawaii County Fire Department.
HCFD said the 23-year-old female ran into rocks at an unknown rate of speed, sustaining critical injuries. Rangers brought the patient to a Pohakuloa Training Area medic at Hale Pohaku, and she was later transported to Hilo Medical Center.
