The Big Island’s COVID-19 case count increased by six Thursday, bringing the total number of cases to date to 2,184.
The new Big Island cases were among 107 new cases reported across the state by the Department of Health. Oahu reported 80 new cases while Maui County reported 16 and Kauai none. Four residents were diagnosed while outside the state.
The Big Island on Thursday had a 1.1% test positivity rate, below the statewide rate of 1.9%.
Statewide, to date, there have been 26,187 people who have tested positive for COVID-19.
Statewide, 55 people were hospitalized Thursday, including one on the Big Island. To date, 2,096 people have required hospitalization, including 112 on the Big Island.
Two new coronavirus-related deaths were reported Thursday by the state, both on Oahu. Of the 416 coronavirus-related deaths confirmed and reported by the state to date, 333 were on Oahu, 26 were on Maui, 53 were on the Big Island and one on Kauai. Three deaths were among residents outside the state.
The Big Island’s COVID-19 fatality rate remained at 2.4% on Thursday, above the statewide rate of 1.6%.
