Just over three dozen new COVID-19 cases were reported across the state Tuesday, including three cases on the Big Island.
With the new cases, the Big Island’s total case count reached 2,201 and the state’s total case count hit 26,531.
The new Big Island cases were among 37 new cases reported across the state by the Department of Health. Oahu reported 24 new cases while Maui County reported seven and Kauai zero. Three residents were diagnosed while outside the state.
The Big Island on Tuesday had a 0.7% test positivity rate, below the statewide rate of 1.6%.
Statewide, to date, there have been 26,500 people who have tested positive for COVID-19.
Statewide, 63 people were hospitalized Tuesday, including two on the Big Island. To date, 2,140 people have required hospitalization, including 113 on the Big Island.
No new coronavirus-related deaths were reported Tuesday by the state. Of the 418 coronavirus-related deaths confirmed and reported by the state to date, 335 were on Oahu, 26 were on Maui, 53 were on the Big Island and one on Kauai. Three deaths were among residents outside the state.
The Big Island’s COVID-19 fatality rate remained at 2.4% on Tuesday, above the statewide rate of 1.6%.
