Big Island reports no new COVID-19 cases

No new COVID-19 cases were reported on the Big Island Tuesday, leaving the island’s total case count at 2,234.

A total of 47 new cases were reported across the state by the Department of Health with Oahu reporting 28 of those cases, Maui County 17 and Kauai zero. No residents were diagnosed while outside the state.

Statewide, to date, there have been 27,270 people who have tested positive for COVID-19.

The Big Island on Tuesday had a 0.4% test positivity rate, below the statewide rate of 1.1%.

Over the past two weeks, the Big Island has reported 33 cases or an average of 2.6 cases per day.

Statewide, 37 people were hospitalized Tuesday, two of whom were receiving care on the Big Island. To date, 2,196 people have required hospitalization, including 115 on the Big Island.

No new coronavirus-related deaths were reported on Tuesday by the state. Of the 431 coronavirus-related deaths confirmed and reported by the state to date, 344 were on Oahu, 30 were on Maui, 53 were on the Big Island and one on Kauai. Three deaths were among residents outside the state.

No deaths have been reported on the Big Island this year.
