Rex Yanaga

Rex Yanaga, 68, of Mountain View, died Feb. 1, 2021, at Hilo Medical Center. He was born in Kona.

Private services held.

He is survived by wife, Renee Yanaga; sons, Shelby (Marissa) Yanaga and Kip Yanaga; mother, Fumie Yanaga; sister, Seri (Dean) Hanzawa; and three grandchildren.

Shigeko Kiyojima

Shigeko Kiyojima, 85, of Keaau, died Feb. 9, 2021, at her residence. Born in Ola’a, she was a retired secretary with the Hawaii Police Department, and a member of the Puna Hongwanji Mission and the HGEA Retirees Hawaii Chapter.

Private services will be held at a later date. The family requests no koden (monetary contributions).

She is survived by brothers, Masayuki (Leiko) Kiyojima and Thomas (Susan) Kiyojima of Hilo, and Lloyd (Zelda) Kiyojima of Keaau; sisters, Chiyono Kinoshita of Honolulu, Sumie Adams of Wisconsin, Amy Shimabukuro of Los Angeles and Lois (Clyde) Silva of Keaau; an aunt; and cousins, nieces and nephews.

Elysa Packer

Elysa “Mary” Packer, 94, of Kailua-Kona, died Feb. 13, 2021, at her residence. Born March 22, 1926, in England, she was a bacteriologist for Control Laboratories Inc. of Watsonville, California.

Private services will be held.

She is survived by son, Brett Packer of Hastings, England.

Helene Supe

Helene Misao Kananionapua Supe, 82, of Hilo, died Feb. 11, 2021, at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born May 30, 1938, in Lahaina, Maui, she was a retired elementary school teacher for the Department of Education.

Friends may call at noon March 2 at East Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2 Columbarium for an urn committal.

She is survived by sons, Charles Supe Jr. of Hilo and Ryan Supe of Kaneohe, Oahu; daughters, Adele Supe of Waipahu, Oahu, and Neva Supe-Roque of Hilo; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother, Frank Hasegawa of Oahu; sisters, Louella Lemn of Kauai, Ruby Lowe and Eda Kaneakua of Oahu, Nina Schmidt and Sue Ann Hasegawa of Molokai; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Debra Mock Chew-Texeira

Debra “Debbie” Haunani Mock Chew-Texeira, 67, of Honoka’a, died Jan. 28, 2021. Born in Kukuihaele, she was a lifelong member and former president of the Waipi’o Taro Farmers’ Association, managed the Dairy Queen and Tex Drive Inn in Honoka’a and an entrepreneur who designed and sold her own clothing line.

Private services to be held.

She is survived by sons, Ernest (Joy) Texeira of Hilo and Alan Texeira of Honoka’a; sisters, Sylvia (John) Tompkins of Kohala, Cynthia Kanekoa of Kukuihaele and Moana (Lloyd) Kaneshiro; brothers, Dennis (Linda) Mock Chew of Kona, Jayson (Alberta) Mock Chew of Honoka’a, Lyle Mock Chew of Kukuihaele and Bradford Mock Chew of Waipi’o Valley; two granddaughters; and aunties, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Eulogia Paz,

Eulogia “Eleanor” Aldeza Paz, 98, of Hilo, died Feb. 10, 2021, at her residence. Born March 4, 1922, in Bantay, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, she was a retired macadamia nut hand harvester for Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Farm and Factory, member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and worked at the Farmers Market.

Friends may call at 9:30 a.m. Feb. 25 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a 10:30 a.m. service. Burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park, Ilima Section at noon. Casual attire.

She is survived by daughters, Juliette (Michael) Dupre and Josephine (Michael) Medeiros; son, Juanito (Jennifer) Paz; brother, Justino Aldeza; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
