Two new COVID-19 cases were reported on the Big Island Wednesday, bringing the island’s total case count at 2,236.
A total of 50 new cases were reported across the state by the Department of Health with Oahu reporting 15 of those cases, Maui County 24 and Kauai one. Nine residents were diagnosed while outside the state.
Statewide, to date, there have been 27,320 people who have tested positive for COVID-19.
The Big Island on Wednesday had a 0.4% test positivity rate, below the statewide rate of 1.2%.
Over the past two weeks, the Big Island has reported 33 cases or an average of 2.7 cases per day.
Statewide, 34 people were hospitalized Wednesday, two of whom were receiving care on the Big Island. To date, 2,197 people have required hospitalization, including 115 on the Big Island.
Four new coronavirus-related deaths were reported on Wednesday by the state. Two were on Maui and two were on Oahu.
Of the 435 coronavirus-related deaths confirmed and reported by the state to date, 346 were on Oahu, 32 were on Maui, 53 were on the Big Island and one on Kauai. Three deaths were among residents outside the state.
No deaths have been reported on the Big Island this year.
