Hawaii Prep boys basketball wins again, defeats Kona Stingrays 68-41

The Hawaii Prep boys basketball team tallied a second win for their limited winter season when Ka Makani defeated the Kona Stingrays 68-41 at HPA’s Castle Gym on Thursday.

Tre Walker led HPA with 21 points, and KJ Walker finished with 17. HPA led at halftime 36-23, and held the Stingrays to six and 12 points in the third and fourth quarters.

For the Stingrays, Joah Gacayan led the team with 12.

The two teams will face off again Wednesday, March 3 at 6:30 p.m. at HPA. It will be the final of only two games for the Kona club team in the pandemic-shortened season.

Ka Makani will play their fourth and final game in Waimea on Saturday, March 6, against Kamehameha. HPA previously defeated Kamehameha, 54-40, on Tuesday.

In a girls basketball game Thursday, Keanu Huihui scored 21 points as Kamehameha won 43-21 against Christian Liberty.
