In their second-to-last game of a shortened winter season, the Hawaii Prep girls’ soccer team netted a 2-0 victory over the Hilo Rush in Waimea on Tuesday.

Alianna West opened the scoring in the fifth minute, breaking the scoreless tie on a cross from Bella Police. Tallying Ka Makani’s second goal was Kahala Erskine, scoring off a Malia Brost rebound in the game’s 59th minute.

Sara Kiernan recorded the shutout in goal for Hawaii Prep.

“It was great to add another quality game to our abbreviated season this winter,” said Hawaii Prep’s head coach Stephen Perry. “We would like to thank Coach Steve Cooty and the Hilo Rush girls for coming out to Waimea for the game. They have some skilled players from schools on the east side of the island. Fun game to watch.”

The final soccer games of the 2021 winter season will be played Thursday, when Hawaii Prep’s boys and girls will take on Kamehameha in Waimea. The girls are set to get underway at 2 p.m., followed by the boys at 4 p.m.
