The Hawaii Prep boys basketball team defeated the Kona Stingrays 48-35 at HPA on Wednesday.

Bear Wawner led Ka Makani with 14 points, and KJ Walker finished the game with 11.

Joah Gacayan had 12 points for the Kona Stingrays.

HPA started with a 15-8 lead after the first quarter, and led 29-20 at the half.

HPA will finish the winter season 2-0 against the Stingrays. HPA previously defeated Kona 68-41 on Feb. 25. The high school basketball season on Hawaii Island has been limited in games and opponents due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and there will be no BIIF championship or state tournament for winter sports this year.

Ka Makani will play their fourth and final game in Waimea on Saturday against Kamehameha. HPA previously defeated Kamehameha this year 54-40.
