The Blue Sea Artisans Gallery featured artist for the month of March is watercolor artist and digital designer Stefanie Culbertson.

Culbertson has been painting with watercolors since she first moved to Hawaii in 1989 from Germany. Her fascination with the lush beauty of this Island still inspires her art and she has grown deep roots here. She holds associate degrees in liberal arts and drama and a bachelor’s degree in digital design. Culbertson started her own business Tiffany Arts Designs in 2006, immediately after graduating, painting and selling her art, working on commissions and creating digital designs.

Among the watercolor paintings she will be featuring is “‘Iwa – Hawaiian Frigatebird” the large, graceful seabird that is surrounded by mystery for its great endurance of soaring in the air for months without landing. There are many Hawaiian mo’olelo connected to ‘Iwa and its aerial endurance. When ‘Iwa is seen flying to the Hawaiian Islands, bad storms are at sea. When he flies out, the rough seas will be calm.

The artist will be working at the gallery today, and March 12, 19 and 26. The gallery is located in the Keauhou Shopping Center and is open from 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. For more information, call (808) 329-8000.
