The Big Island reported seven new COVID-19 cases Tuesday, bringing the total number of cases to 2,289.
Statewide, a total of 42 new cases were reported Tuesday by the Department of Health. Oahu reported 16 of those cases, Maui County 18 and Kauai none. One resident was diagnosed while outside the state.
Statewide, to date, there have been 27,977 people who have tested positive for COVID-19. The Big Island on Tuesday had a 1.1% test positivity rate, the same as the the statewide rate of 1.1%.
Over the past two weeks, the Big Island has reported 56 cases or an average of 5.9 cases per day. The majority of those cases have been in West Hawaii.
Statewide, 24 people were hospitalized Tuesday, none of whom were receiving care on the Big Island. To date, 2,230 people have required hospitalization, including 115 on the Big Island.
No new coronavirus-related deaths were reported on Tuesday by the state. Of the 445 coronavirus-related deaths confirmed and reported by the state to date, 353 were on Oahu, 35 were on Maui, 53 were on the Big Island and one on Kauai. Three deaths were among residents outside the state.
No deaths have been reported on the Big Island this year.
