Isami Segawa
Isami Segawa, 91, of Hilo, died March 2, 2021, at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Hilo, he was retired from the state Department of Accounting and General Services, had worked at Isemoto Contracting Co. and was a member of Higashi Hongwanji Mission.
Private services held. Family requests no monetary gifts or flowers.
He is survived by daughters, Ivane (Alvin) Aoki of Papaikou, Rae (Nolan) Mori of Hilo, and Susan (Luke) Tysdal of Las Vegas; brothers, Henry (Akiko) Segawa and Hiroshi (Aileen) Segawa, all of Hilo; sister, Setsuko Imanaka of Kaneohe, Oahu; four granddaughters; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Al Ah Sam
Al “Taba” Duane Ah Sam, 63, of Kapaau, died Feb. 9, 2021, at the Hale Ho’ola Hamakua in Honokaa. Born in North Kohala, he was a sand blaster and painter for Pacific Marine and Marisco, Ltd.
Friends may call at 9:30 a.m. March 20 at Kalahikiola Congregational Church in Kapaau for a 10:30 a.m. service. Burial to follow at Waianaia Cemetery. Casual attire. Livestreaming at www.facebook.com/kalahikiolacc starting at 10:15 a.m.
He is survived by sisters, Charlene Caravalho of Waimea, and Josette (Roger) Cruz of Kaneohe, Oahu; brother, Ray (Vanissa) Ah Sam of Kunia; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Momoyo Tanaka
Momoyo “Katherine” Tanaka, 89, of Honokaa, died March 4, 2021, at her residence. Born in Haina, she was a retired office worker for the former Honokaa Sugar Co. and a member of the Honokaa Hongwanji Mission.

She is survived by brother, Franklin Tanaka of Honokaa; and two nieces and one nephew.

David Carman
David Kaleimomi Carman, 75, of Mountain View, died Feb. 26, 2021, in Hilo. Born Oct. 6, 1945, in Honolulu, he was a U.S. Air Force Vietnam War veteran, and worked for Worldwide Services Inc. and DynCorp to assist the Kahoolawe Island Reserve Commission with the clean up of Kahoolawe.

He is survived by wife, Segundina Carman; son, Albert Carman; daughters, Lourdes Noelani (Cliff) Bowman, Kehaulani (Jason) Hefner, and Royann (Kamaholo) Palama; and 10 grandchildren.
