QNHCH offering scholarships

Queen’s North Hawaii Community Hospital has several college scholarship opportunities available to Big Island residents.

The Peggy Dineen-Orsini Scholarship offers $2,000 to a resident of Hawaii County who is enrolled in or accepted for enrollment in a National League of Nursing accredited program in Hawaii or on the mainland.

Private donors and the hospital medical staff fund this scholarship in memory of Peggy Dineen-Orsini, who was a registered nurse at Queen’s North Hawaii Community Hospital from 1996 to 2004, remembered for her compassion for her patients, colleagues and friends.

The Queen’s North Hawaii Community Hospital Medical Staff is offering two $1,000 scholarship to Hawaii County residents who demonstrate financial need and are currently enrolled in a program to obtain a health care profession degree.

Applications and instructions are available online at www.nhch.com. Completed applications and required documents must be received or postmarked by April 30.

Webinar to cover COVID-19 travel, vaccine questions

Kupuna planning to travel or who have questions about the state’s Safe Travels or COVID-19 vaccination program can register for a free AARP Hawaii webinar with Hawaii Adj. Gen. Kenneth Hara and C.J. Johnson of the Department of Health at noon on Tuesday.

Hara will discuss the state’s Safe Travels program and Johnson will answer questions about the current status of the COVID-19 vaccinations during the 90-minute webinar.
